Features of the product

Can I be sure my trousers will protect me well in bad weather?
To better cope with bad weather (rain, snow, wind, etc.), the Free 300 trousers were rigorously developed and assembled to prevent water from entering and to feel the wind less. The trousers were placed in a special shower reproducing the conditions a snowboarder may have to cope with, to check they are watertight. Finally, we wore them for several days' snowboarding under all conditions to validate this waterproofness.
What's the point of having water-repellent trousers?
Water repellent fabric allows water to run off its surface without seeping in. The Free 300 trousers are made from water-repellent materials to prolong their resistance to bad weather. This is an additional hi-tech solution for staying dry for as long as possible in parks or backcountry. You need to repeat this treatment regularly using the products sold in our stores for it to remain water-repellent.
"Coated" trousers: what are the advantages of this coating?
The coating is a waterproof "substance" that is spread on the inner side of the fabric. It prevents water from seeping into the garment but allows the water vapour produced by an active body to escape. This allows you to stay dry for greater comfort in use!
What is a membrane and what's it for?
The trouser membrane consists of a very thin component applied to the inner surface of the outer fabric. This hydrophilic component prevents water from seeping in, while allowing perspiration produced by your body to escape. The membrane is unbeatable when it comes to staying warm and dry longer.
Water gets in through the seams. Do my trousers have waterproof seams?
In addition to the waterproof fabric, we strengthen the waterproofness of the FREE 300 trousers with waterproof seams. These are waterproof adhesive strips taped to the inside seams of the garment to make it perfectly watertight. These taped seams are present on the areas most exposed to snow.
How will my Free 300 trousers keep me warm?
To keep you warm, we use wadding insulation. The wadding is a synthetic material with a polyester base that stores a greater or lesser quantity of air depending on the size of fibres used. Wadding can be standard, hi-tech or siliconised, each has different properties (warmth, lightweight, supple, etc.).
How can I be sure that my trousers are strong?
We know how much energy is expended during a day's skiing or snowboarding. That’s why we take particular care in choosing all the elements that make up our products to guarantee the best possible protection.
What are "breathable" trousers?
Breathability is the trousers' ability to allow moisture produced during exercise to escape to the outside, keeping you dry. Wed'ze uses materials that help prevent condensation inside the garment.
How should I dress to avoid having cold legs on the slopes?
To keep the bottom of your body warm and dry, we recommend using the 2-layer rule. The principle is simple: Use 2 clothing layers, each with their own particular function. Your undergarment or tights produce and retain warmth. As for your snowboard trousers, they protect you from bad weather. All these layers should be breathable in order to evacuate humidity.
How can I prevent snow from getting into my trousers?
Our trousers have elasticated gaiters at the bottom that cover the boots. If you fall or ski in fresh snow, the seal created by the gaiter keeps the snow out.
Can I compare the products' environmental impact?
"The product's environmental impacts are calculated across its entire life cycle using various indicators. A score of A, B, C, D or E is made to help you easily identify the most eco-friendly products by comparing products of a similar type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks). For Decathlon, this initiative to display environmental data is a priority. Explanatory video:"

Great for playing in Scottish snow

Kept me warn and dry when out with the kids sledging/ igloo and snowmen building in Scottish Highlands. Usually size 14. Xl (16-18) was a better fit with room to layer under. Lovely soft material, lightweight to pack and loved the colour.
