Features of the product

Can I be sure my jacket will protect me well in bad weather?
To help you cope with bad weather (rain, snow, wind, etc.), the Free 700 jacket was developed and assembled using materials that prevent water from entering and ensure you feel the wind less. To check that it is waterproof, this product was placed in a special shower reproducing the actual conditions encountered by snowboarders in use. Finally, we wore them for several days' snowboarding under all conditions to validate its waterproofness.
What's the point of having a water-repellent jacket?
Water repellent fabric allows water to run off its surface without seeping in. The Free 700 jacket is made from water-repellent materials to prolong its resistance to bad weather. This is an additional hi-tech solution for staying dry for as long as possible in parks or backcountry. You should repeat this treatment regularly using products sold in our stores to maintain these properties.
"Coated" jacket: what are the advantages of this coating?
The coating is a waterproof substance that is spread on the inner side of the fabric. It prevents water from seeping into the garment but allows the water vapour produced by an active body to escape. This allows you to stay dry for greater comfort in use!
What is a membrane and what's it for?
The jacket membrane is a very fine component applied to the inside of the outer fabric. This hydrophilic component prevents water from seeping in, while allowing perspiration produced by your body to escape. The membrane is unbeatable when it comes to staying warm and dry longer.
Water often gets in through the seams. Does my jacket have waterproof seams?
As well as the waterproof material, taped seams are incorporated to strength the waterproofing of the FREE 700 jacket. These are waterproof adhesive strips fixed to the inside seams of the garment to make it perfectly watertight. These taped seams are present on the areas most exposed to snow.
How will my Free 700 jacket keep me warm?
In order to keep you warm, we use insulating wadding. The wadding is a synthetic material with a polyester base that stores a greater or lesser quantity of air depending on the size of fibres used. Wadding can be standard, hi-tech or siliconised, each has different properties (warmth, lightweight, supple, etc.).
How can I be sure that my jacket is strong?
We know how much energy is expended during a day's skiing or snowboarding. That's why we take particular care in choosing all the elements and assemblies that make up our products to guarantee the best possible protection.
What is a "breathable" jacket?
It's the jacket's ability to allow moisture produced during exercise to escape to the outside, keeping you dry. Wedze uses materials that help prevent condensation inside the garment.
How should I dress to avoid feeling cold on the slopes?
In order to keep warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-layer rule. The principle is simple: Use 3 layers of fabric, each having a particular function. Your undergarment must produce and retain warmth. Your sweater or sweatshirt will provide warmth. Finally, the jacket will protect you from bad weather. All these layers should be breathable in order to evacuate humidity.
How can I prevent snow from getting into my jacket?
Our jackets have elasticated snow skirts that can be adjusted at the waist. If you fall or ski in fresh snow, the seal keeps the snow out.
Can I compare the products' environmental impact?
"The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle and with different indicators. A score of A, B, C, D or E is made to help you easily identify the most eco-friendly products by comparing products of a similar type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks). For Decathlon, this initiative to display environmental data is a priority. Video explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9nsE6EnTtg"
