Features of the product

Can I be sure my jacket will protect me well in bad weather?
To help you cope with bad weather (rain, snow, wind, etc.), the Free 700 jacket was developed and assembled using materials that prevent water from entering and ensure you feel the wind less. The waterproof rating is measured by placing the product in a special shower that replicates the real-life conditions encountered by snowboarders in use. Finally, we wore it for several days' snowboarding under all conditions to validate its waterproofness.
What's the point of having a water-repellent jacket?
The water repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to make water to run off its surface without seeping in. The Free 700 jacket is made from water-repellent materials to prolong its resistance to bad weather. This is an additional hi-tech solution for staying dry for as long as possible in parks or backcountry. You should repeat this treatment regularly using the products sold in our stores to maintain these properties.
‘Coated’ jacket: what are the advantages of this coating?
The coating is a waterproof "substance" that is spread on the inner side of the fabric. It prevents water from seeping into the garment but allows the water vapour produced by an active body to escape. This allows you to stay dry for greater comfort in use!
What is a membrane and what's it for?
The jacket membrane is a very fine component applied to the inside of the outer fabric. This hydrophilic component prevents water from seeping in, while allowing perspiration produced by your body to escape. The membrane is unbeatable when it comes to staying warm and dry longer.
Water often gets in through the seams. Does my jacket have taped seams?
As well as the waterproof material, taped seams are incorporated to strength the waterproofing of the FREE 700 jacket. These are waterproof adhesive strips taped to the inside seams of the garment to make it perfectly watertight. These taped seams are present on the areas most exposed to snow.
How will my Free 700 jacket keep me warm?
To keep you warm, we use wadding insulation. The wadding is a synthetic material with a polyester base that stores a greater or lesser quantity of air depending on the size of fibres used. Wadding can be standard, hi-tech or siliconised, each has different properties (warmth, lightweight, supple, etc.).
How can I be sure about the durability of my jacket?
We know how much energy is expended during a day's skiing or snowboarding. That's why we take particular care in choosing all the elements and assemblies that make up our products to guarantee the best possible protection.
‘breathable’ jacket?
It's the jacket's ability to allow moisture produced during exercise to escape to the outside, keeping you dry. Wedze uses materials that help prevent condensation inside the garment.
How should I dress to avoid feeling cold on the slopes?
In order to keep warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-layer rule. The principle is simple: Use 3 layers of fabric, each having a particular function. Your under-garment must retain warmth. Your sweater or sweatshirt will provide warmth. Finally, the jacket will protect you from bad weather. All these layers should be breathable in order to evacuate humidity.
How can I stop snow from getting into my jacket?
Our jackets have elasticated snow skirts that can be adjusted at the waist. If you fall or if you are skiing in fresh snow, the seal keeps the snow out.
Can I compare the products' environmental impact?
"The product's environmental impacts are calculated across its entire life cycle using various indicators. A score of A, B, C, D or E is made to help you easily identify the most eco-friendly products by comparing products of a similar type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks). For Decathlon, this initiative to display environmental data is a priority.Explanatory video:"
