Features of the product

Am I certain that my jacket will protect me well from the bad weather?
To let you tackle bad weather (rain, snow, wind etc.), the FREE 300 jacket has been developed with a component and assembly blocking the passage of water and limiting the feeling of the wind. In order to validate the waterproof rating, the jacket was placed under a special shower that replicates the real-life conditions faced by a snowboarder on the slopes. Finally, we spent several days snowboarding in all conditions to validate the waterproofness of the product.
What does the water repellence of my jacket actually do?
Water repellent fabric allows water to run off its surface without seeping in thanks to a treatment applied on the external side of the fabric. The textile does not absorb the water and remains lightweight and warm. This treatment must be renewed during the product’s lifespan, after 2 to 3 washes on average with the help of the products offered in our stores. All Wed'ze waterproof jackets benefit from a water repellent treatment.
“Coated” jacket: what are the advantages of coating?
A breathable coating consists of coating a textile base with a paste or a liquid to create a protective film. The breathable coating is a waterproof barrier which lets water vapour pass through.
What is a membrane and what is it for?
A membrane is a very fine component (between 5 and 25 micrometres) applied on the inner surface of a textile base to provide it with the great qualities of impermeability and breathability.
Water often seeps in through the stitching. Does my jacket have waterproof stitching?
As well as the waterproof material, taped seams are incorporated to strength the waterproofing of the FREE 300 jacket. These are waterproof adhesive strips fixed to the inside seams of the garment to make it perfectly watertight. These taped seams are present on the areas most exposed to snow.
How does my Free 300 jacket keep me warm?
To keep you warm, we use wadding insulation. Wadding is a synthetic component made from polyester which stores more or less air, depending on the size of the fibres. Standard, technical or silicone wadding exists with distinct properties (warmth, a lightweight nature, elasticity). The FREE 300 trousers also offer an extra layer of heat along the back of the thighs for extra comfort when sitting in the snow.
How can I be sure about the durability of my jacket?
We pay particular care when choosing the elements and blends which make up our products to guarantee the best resistance possible. We know how much energy is used up during a day’s skiing or snowboarding!
What does a “breathable” jacket mean?
Breathability is the jacket’s ability to let the moisture escape. This has been produced by the body during exertion. The aim is to stay dry. Wed'ze uses components which limit condensation inside the garment.
How must I dress to avoid feeling cold on the slopes?
In order to keep warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-layer rule. The principle is simple: Use 3 layers of fabric, each having a particular function. Your under-garment must produce and keep in the warmth. Your jumper or sweatshirt provides you with warmth whereas the jacket protects you from bad weather. All these layers should be breathable in order to evacuate humidity.
How can I stop snow from coming into my jacket?
Our jackets have elasticated snow-shield skirts which are adjusted to the size. In the event of a fall or fresh snow, the airtightness prevents snow from coming in.
Can I compare the environmental impact of the products?
The product’s environmental impacts are calculated on its entire life cycle and with different indicators. A score of A, B, C, D or E is made to help you easily identify the most eco-friendly products by comparing products of a similar type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks). For Decathlon, this initiative to display environmental data is a priority. Video explanation:"
Care instructions
To optimise your jacket's performance and durability, we advise the following: Machine wash separately at 30°C. Synthetic cycle. Turn inside out. Use a small amount of detergent. No softener. Wring out manually. Dry on a hanger in a warm, well-ventilated place. Do not dry clean. Do not place on a radiator. You can re-waterproof the outer fabric using an aerosol waterproofing spray for fabric. Read the care tag carefully.
