The Mountain Store, our unique ceation centre
The Mountain store in Passy, with an unrivaled view on the mont Blanc, is where are gathered the teams of the 3 mountain sports Decathlon brands: Quechua, Wed’ze & Simond.
Offering 10 000m2 of work space, including a 3000m2 shop, this unique place dedicated to creation and innovation is perfectly located, right at the foot of the mountains, close to the ski resorts and their skiers and snowboarders.
At Wed’ze, Decathlon skiing and snowboarding brand, 70 co-workers design products all passionate skiers and snowboarders have and will ever wish for.
18 months to create a product, from the idea to the final piece
Every product originates from a brief established by the product manager according to clients and Decathlon shop assistants remarks,as well as new trends and sports. This brief is then passed on to the "products' teams": product engineers, designers, stylists... that brainstorm and implement the requests of the product manager.
The first prototypes are then manufactured and tested. They are improved all along the testing process that includes field and lab testings to become, 18 months later, a product you will find in your local Decathlon store.
Interaction & exchange
The office layout, with open spaces and business units, organized around every type of product (ski, snow, helmets, clothes...), help to promote the natural interaction of the different departments. each business unit comprises a product manager, engineers in charge of the technical part of the product, designers that take care of the aesthetics of the product, a model maker for the sizes of the clothes, and RS whose job is to define the quantity of products that will be allocated to the different stores.
The shop: a real life laboratory
One of the main strengths of the international design centre is to be built around the shop, the "Mountain Store". It's a real life laboratory where the brand finds inspiration to define its strategy by exchanging directly with the clients.
The client is here at the heart of the creation process. The prupose being to make skiing and snowboarding accessible to all of those who want to ride safely with a good equipment.

This summer, every thursday, Anne Laure and Karine take you on a discovery tour of the Quechua and Wed'ze design centre.
Offices, communication areas, design workshops, prototypes workshops, test zones, etc... During 1.30 hour, you will have a privileged access to the backstage.
