Advice

Storage instructions
Store on a hanger and do not fold, as this can damage the fabric coating. Make sure that the garment is completely dry before storing in a dry and well-ventilated place.

Features of the product

What is water-repellency for?
Water-repellent fabric allows water to run off its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. The fabric is made water repellent by treating its outer surface. This treatment needs to be renewed during the garment’s lifetime (every 3 washes). All Wed’ze jackets have a water-repellent treatment.
What is a coated fabric or fabric with a membrane?
The coating is similar to a paint applied to the inside of the fabric making it water-proof while remaining breathable. It is often less expensive than a membrane and requires a liner to protect it. The membrane is a kind of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the fabric waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the advantage of being softer, lighter, more durable and often more breathable than a coating.
What is a fabric’s breathability?
To find out if a fabric is breathable, its RET evaporative resistance is measured (test based on Standard ISO 11092). The lower the resistance, the more the fabric releases the water vapour generated by the body when active and the more breathable it is. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric / 12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric / RET > 20 = not a breathable fabric or fabric with poor breathability.
How are the waterproof properties of the fabric measured?
The resistance of a fabric to water pressure expressed in mm of water column (test based on Standard ISO 811). The higher the water pressure it withstands, the more waterproof the fabric. A fabric with impermeability of 2000 mm can therefore withstand pressure exerted by 2000 mm of water
How do you make a garment waterproof?
The waterproof properties of the garment are related to its fabric, seam sealing and assembly design. Then we carry out shower tests on our garments
How will my ski jacket keep me warm?
We use wadding for insulation to help keep you warm. This polyester-based synthetic material traps air, the amount depends on the size of the fibres. Standard, technical and silicone wadding are available, each with its own distinct properties: warmth, lightness, flexibility, etc.
How do I know if my garment is breathable?
In addition to the breathability of the fabrics used, we use technical solutions (zips, vents, mesh) improving the overall ventilation of our jackets and trousers designed for Freeride or All-Mountain skiing. These ventilation systems both regulate the temperature inside the garment and make it easier to wick away perspiration generated by the body during exercise.
How should I dress to avoid feeling cold on the slopes?
To keep warm and dry, use the 3 breathable-layers rule: 1 base layer, 1 fleece to retain heat and 1 ski jacket to protect you from bad weather.
How can I prevent snow from getting in when I fall?
The snow skirt is a protection system at waist level that closes with press studs at the bottom of the ski or snowboard jacket. It prevents snow and air from entering when on the slopes, especially in the event of a fall.
Where can I put my ski pass when taking ski lifts?
You no longer need to get out your ski pass! Your sleeve has a ski pass pocket, allowing you to access lifts quickly.
What is the RECCO system?
100% of our Freeride and All-Mountain jackets and trousers come with the RECCO system. With RECCO® technology you can be located in the event of an avalanche. Someone who is equipped with RECCO® reflectors and is buried in the snow can be quickly and accurately located by the emergency services using the RECCO® tracker. RECCO reflectors are not a substitute for an avalanche beacon. RECCO technology is complementary in function, thereby increasing the chances of being found in time.

    Great value, but strange fit

Only just received this so haven't skied in it yet, and first impressions are very good, other than it has a strange tight fit around the middle which seems to be caused by the stitching/elastic of the snow skirt (not my belly!). I'm slim, so could be a problem if you're not. Will take back and see if mine is a one off.

Great for the price - but there are better

It’s a good snowboard coat for the sale price of 59 quid, but for just £20 more, my friend picked up a really great coat with more features and stronger waterproofing from Surfanic. This was a last minute purchase for a last minute holiday so appreciated the prompt delivery and good price. If you’re used to high end gear though, like North Face or whatever, you’re going to miss a lot of the features you get in more expensive coats like:
    - clips to lock the snow skirt to your boarding pants
    - Loops inside the pocket to fasten your keys / gloves to
    - pull cuffs with thumb holes
    - more insulation from thinner material
    - better lugs on zips to make them easier to close with gloves on.

It’s quite a bulky jacket but it did keep me warm and dry in Chamonix.

I’ll use it again for indoor slopes or the odd weekend away, but will definitely buy something better in the end of season sales. However If this is the top of yoir budget then it’s pretty good. But check
out sales at Surfanic, Surfdome and some of the high street retailers too.
